The following is a broad outline of our beliefs as a community.
Of course, God is big, much bigger than our little words can describe. As we dialogue with one another, our understanding of God and His Word grows. If you have questions about what we believe, please feel free to contact us to dialogue and discuss as friends. info@whitewaterchristian.com.
God We believe that God is the Creator of heaven and earth and that He created everything out of nothing. We further believe that God reveals himself to His creation in three distinct ways: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These distinct aspects of the Creator (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) are a fully unified representation of the nature of the one true God.
Jesus Christ We believe that Christ was born of the Virgin Mary and that He is fully human and fully Divine. We also believe that Christ's purpose for entering into the world as a man was to reconcile creation to its Creator (John 1:29). Because Jesus Christ is the Messiah, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18-20).
Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit is an active arm of God reaching out to humankind in order to teach the requirements of God (2 Thessalonians 2:13) and to accomplish God's purpose in our present age. We also believe that the Holy Spirit is a tangible representation of God in the life of the believer (Ephesians 1:13-14). This is for the glory of God and the benefit of the believer.
Bible We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, written to instruct the believer in correct living (2 Timothy 3:14-17). We also believe the Bible is a living and breathing document where we are invited to encounter God and discover His nature in regards to creation.
Church The Church is a called-out group of people that are actively teaching and baptizing new believers throughout the entire world. This group is dynamic in its organization and implementation of accomplishing the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
Salvation Salvation is the process in which one becomes a part of the called-out believers (Church). This happens by God alone and through Christ alone. In response to God's calling, the believer acts in faith, which leads to repentance, confession, baptism and, finally, living a transformed life that honors God.
Christ's Return We believe that Jesus will someday soon return to earth and judge all humankind. On this day of judgment everyone will acknowledge Christ as Lord (Philippians 2:9-11), and everyone who has ever lived will stand before God's throne to answer for his or her actions (Revelation 20:11-13). At this time there will be two types of people: those who are accepted by God and those who are rejected by God (Matthew 25:31-46).
